The
Asheron's Call Server Emulator is a complete alternate
server for Asheron's Call. It has very minimal playable features at
the moment, however it is advancing quickly. The team
members right now are Akilla and Cibo Matto, the creator
of Decal, however I am looking for qualified C++/Winsock coders.
NOTE:
Latest version of ACS software does not need any patching.
Just extract proper files and execute.

Well here's the basic new page. Gonna be adding docs
shortly in addition to working on the layout a bit. Still trying to figure out exactly what to do
with the left sidebar there. Oh well I'll figure something out... Thanks again Lunac for the new
layout!
The download links on the new page should be for the
latest beta that works with January client. I'll give it a check tomorrow. Right now its 4am and
I want to sleep. :-)
The current ACE team disbanding came as something of
a shock... But whatever, more power to em. Any of them that want to go back to writing an AC
server emu are welcome to join me. ;-)

Patch Update + New Page |

Due to
numerous requests on IRC tonight (6am right now *grinz*), I
updated to january patch compatibility.
The latest
betas, as always, are at http://home.earthlink.net/~killaw/ACServer.
Ignore the
JPGs, I'm showing off my drain macro *grins again*. Get the
RAR files with _Jan at the end. I only tested them VERY
briefly, and I'm not 100% positive yet that everything's
working with January yet. I'll test it more thoroughly
tomorrow night, probably coupled with a large demo session
in #ace, including working on the buffer bug and some other
things... I think I've nailed down where the buffer bug is
occurring, now all I have to do is figure out why.. =]
So give
those a go, and please email me with your experiences.
Second
part... Lunac has been kind enough to write me what I think
is a cool looking new page. Soon as he finishes it we'll
point www.acserver.org at it, but right now it's at acs.acdome.com.
Throw comments on the new layout at my email box please.
Enjoy! And
if anyone wonders why I haven't updated the master downloads
yet, it's because until I fix this god damned buffer bug,
I'm not going to replace the stable build with this one,
because well, it isn't as stable as the 'stable' build
yet... Heh...
That's
basically priority number one on the server right now. If
anyone's wondering why it's so far between updates right
now, I'm working on a number of other projects. My drain
macro, a new acstats.com replacement that also does
monarchy/xp chain management, and some private projects as
well. That isn't including game playing time. :-) So that's
why. I devote a few days to each project at a time. I'll get
around to everything eventually... Tonight is probably
devoted to ACS.
Oh, and
enjoy your new textured toon. It's the beginning of the
clothing system. I now have a basic texture/model/palette
swap system in and I give it a textured toon for the base
swappage. Expect full clothing/armor in a release that
rhymes with noon.

System + Some Bugfixes |

Okay,
I added a full XP system in. i.e. you can give
yourself XP and then raise skills and stats with
it. I also added a !setstatinc command so you can
give yourself 100000 run and jump and go flying
everywhere. Buncha other neat stuff added now.
The
known bugs are as follows. 1. There's still some
kind of buffer bug in there. I thought I got rid
of it, and in any event it's a lot better than
earlier betas, but it's still there. 2. There may
be an obscure crash bug on disconnection. If you
can reproduce it, please tell me via email or the
boards. Thanks!
Any
other minor or major bugs please post on the
boards or email me about. Make sure you delete
your old .dat files before using the newest betas.
Enjoy!

Okay,
as a nice xmas gift, I'll post a link to
the latest beta and some other stuff going
on behind the scenes here. First off, you
can grab the latest betas here: http://home.earthlink.net/~killaw/ACServer.
This
works with the DECEMBER CLIENT. However, I
would make a COPY of your current
asheron's call directory, and then use the
logon client with that.
Latest
betas work with the directory server
hosted kindly by Jubilee at http://www.forotech.com/scripts/dirserv.exe.
To have the connect link on the directory
server page work, first run the login
client once then exit, so that it can set
up the integration in your registry. Then
close IE and reopen IE, and the directory
server links should work properly.
Enjoy!
There are numerous bugs with this version.
Most notable is there is a buffer problem,
where if the server is sending too much
data to the client, the client messes up
and ignores all future packets from the
server. This is the next major problem
we're addressing.
Other
than that, it is mostly fully functional.
!givexp is working. I believe PvP combat
is buggy, however. The worldstore is
fixed, and character creation should be
working as normal. Bug reports will only
be accepted for the december server, not
for the old release. I'd like to pretend
that one doesn't exist. :-)
